1. What is Reeshape?

Reshape is a safe and effective Anti-Obesity Drug. With a unique mode of action, contains Orissa 60/120 mg. Infact Orlistat, the active ingredient of Reeshape is the only safe Anti-Obesity drug available today which has a local action and doesn’t have CNS related side effects.

2. How does Reeshape act?

Orlistat is a novel Anti-Obesity agent, which selectively and potently inhibits the absorption and hydrolysis of fat that result in 30% decrease in fat absorption and therefore reduces total energy intake to produce a significant weight loss. Orlistat is a reversible inhibitor of lipases. Due to its unique mode of action, Orlistat has local action and no CNS related side effects, not an appetite suppressant and hence the first safe treatment for obesity.

3. How much of the drug is absorbed systemically?

Reeshape is locally acting with minimal absorption (2%) systemically. Its fat-blocking action takes place in the lumen of the stomach and small intestine.

4. Who are the appropriate candidates for Reeshape?

Orlistat is used with a low-calorie diet to lose weight and maintain weight after weight loss in Obese and Overweight patients. The appropriate candidates for Reeshape are obese & overweight patients with Cardiovascular Risk like Diabetes, Blood Pressure,Atherosclerosis & Osteoporosis with Obesity, PCOS due to obesity etc.

5. Can Reeshape be given in pregnancy?

The effect of Reeshape during pregnancy have not been adequately studied, therefore not recommended for use during pregnancy.

6. What is the dosage of Reeshape?

One capsule twice or thrice daily with main meals or within one hour after main meals.If a meal is missed or contains no fat, the dose can be omitted.

7. How much do patients lose weight with Reeshape therapy?

Reeshape promotes 5% to 10% weight loss or more of their initial weight in year 1 and sustained weight loss of 5% or greater over 2 years in obese & overweight patients. Weight loss was observed within 2 weeks of initiation of therapy.

8. How long Reeshape can be taken?

Reeshape can be taken successfully for achieving and maintaining weight loss for up to 4 years.

9. Is Orlistat approved by the US FDA?

Yes, Orlistat is approved by the US FDA for long-term use in the management of overweight or obesity.

10. What are the common side effects of Reeshape?

Most common transient gastrointestinal side effects are oily and loose stools, oily spotting which can be minimized by restricting dietary fat of total daily calories.

11. Does Reeshape interfere with commonly prescribed drugs?

Reeshape is generally safe and does not interfere with any medicines except Cyclosporine, Warfarin.

Dosage adjustment (dose reduction) is suggested for patients on Oral Hypoglycemics,since Reeshape has proven to bring about glycemic control in Diabetics

12. Are Vitamins needed to be taken during Reeshape treatment?

Yes, it is preferable to be taken as Reeshape has been shown to reduce the absorption of some fat soluble vitamins and beta carotene. Also Vitamin D and Beta carotene levels are low in Obese individuals.

13. What is the effect of Orlistat in reducing Visceral fat?

As per Journal of American Medical Association 120 mg of Orlistat three times in a day for period of one year significantly showed reduction in visceral fat [Fat mass, hip-ratio and waist circumference are simple and effective measures for Visceral adiposity] compared to placebo group in obese patients. Orlistat found to be significantly decreased ratio between abdominal fat and adipose tissue in obese women.

14. Has Reeshape (Orlistat) any effect on Hypertension and Lipid profile in Overweight and Obese cardiac patients ?

Reeshape is effective for improving both weight loss and serum lipid profiles in obese patients at low and high cardiovascular disease risk. Reeshape (Orlistat) effectively manages obesity related co-morbidities, atherosclerosis risk. Therefore, Orlistat appears to have anti-atherogenic properties with significant reductions in Blood Pressure and heart rate, and may therefore have a role in the management of hypertension in Overweight and Obese patients.
